Stone Hauling and Gravel Delivery in Dallas, GA

Stone Hauling · Dallas, GA

Crusher run and gravel hauled in our own dump trucks

Ground Effects Paving handles stone hauling and gravel delivery for homes and businesses across Dallas and Paulding County. We haul crusher run and gravel in our own dump trucks. Then we spread the stone and grade it on site, so your driveway or pad is ready to use.

Homeowners call us for gravel driveways, and property owners call for parking areas and private roads. The same trucks haul the stone base that goes under our asphalt. As a paving contractor in Dallas, we grade that base and shape it for drainage before the paving starts. One call covers the stone and the grade work.

Crusher Run or Gravel: Which Stone Does Your Job Need?

Crusher run is crushed stone with the fine stone dust left in. The dust fills the gaps between the stones. Once it is graded and driven on, crusher run packs down into a firm surface.

Washed gravel has the dust rinsed out, so water drains through it fast. On a driveway, those loose stones can shift and rut under tires. A federal gravel roads guide says good surface gravel needs fractured stone plus fines that bind it.

Stone for a gravel surface and stone under pavement are different mixes, too. If asphalt is in your plans, tell us up front. We haul the stone with the paving in mind.

Gravel Driveways That Shed Rain in Paulding County

Paulding County ground runs from sandy loam to red clay. The USDA soil survey maps both across the county. NOAA's weather station northeast of Dallas averages about 54 inches of rain a year. Rain falls all year, and every month averages more than 3 inches.

On either kind of ground, standing water is what ruins a gravel driveway. The same federal guide says trapped water softens the surface and leads to ruts that can reach the soil below.

Shape is the fix. A crowned drive is shaped like a low roof, so rain runs off both sides. For gravel roads, that guide recommends a crown near half an inch per foot. We grade the ground before the stone goes down, then shape the stone so water leaves the drive.

Gravel Delivery for Pads and Parking Areas

A gravel pad gives a shed or a trailer firm, level ground. We grade the spot first. Then we spread crusher run and shape its edges so water drains away.

Parking areas and private roads work the same way, only bigger. Heavy trucks and daily traffic call for more stone than a few cars do. Before a gravel lot or road gets asphalt, the base and the drainage come first. From there, the job moves to parking lot paving or private road paving.

If your home is on septic, show us where the drainfield sits. The EPA says not to park or drive on a drainfield, so loaded trucks stay clear of it. Where machine grading cuts below the existing ground, Georgia law requires a Georgia 811 locate request first. For a new drive onto a county road, Paulding County issues a driveway permit.

FAQ

Stone Hauling Questions, Answered

Common questions about stone hauling around Dallas and the west side of metro Atlanta. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

How much does gravel delivery cost?
The price comes down to which stone the job needs and how much of it. Distance matters too, along with the grade work the site needs. Tight access for a dump truck can add to it. We look at the job and put the quote in writing before any stone moves.
Is crusher run good for a gravel driveway?
For most gravel driveways, yes. The stone dust packs it into a firm top that stays put under tires. We look at the slope and the drainage first, since water is what breaks down any gravel drive.
How thick should a gravel driveway be?
It depends on how firm the ground is and how much heavy traffic the drive will carry. A federal gravel roads guide ties gravel thickness to those two things. A drive for cars on firm ground needs less stone than a parking area for loaded trucks on soft clay. We look at the ground and the traffic, then put the plan in the written quote.
Why does my gravel driveway keep getting ruts and puddles?
Water is the usual cause. When rain cannot run off, it softens the stone and the ground under it, and tires dig ruts. Potholes form the same way, in low spots where water sits. We regrade the drive so it sheds water, then spread fresh stone where it has worn thin.
Can a gravel driveway be paved later?
Often, yes, once the base and the drainage are right. A federal gravel roads guide notes that surface gravel can trap water under pavement. It puts the rule simply: if the foundation fails, the pavement fails. We check the stone and build up the base first, then move on to asphalt driveway paving.
How far do you deliver gravel?
Dallas sits at the center of our service area. We deliver across Paulding County and the west side of metro Atlanta. Our range runs about 100 miles around Dallas. Hiram, Rockmart, Douglasville and Villa Rica are all on the list of towns in our service area.
